Ajai Vir Singh
With an instinctive love for fashion that expressed itself when he was as young as eight, Ajai Vir Singh officially started his journey in fashion when he founded the Colombo Fashion Week in 2003. In the year 2006, Ajai coined the term ‘Garments without Guilt’ while on a global promotional campaign. This phrase went on to become the anchor that helped position Sri Lanka Apparel and won him and his team a Global Effie in 2009, making them the only Asians to have won this prestigious award.’Garments Without Guilt’ has helped establish what the Daily Mirror calls a “conscientious standpoint in apparel production” in the garment industry of Sri Lanka.
In 2010, Ajai founded Conscience, Sri Lanka’s first ethical fashion brand. He was invited to be a founding member of the Commonwealth Fashion Council based in London which has a membership of 54 countries.
In 2016, Ajai launched Swim Week Colombo, Asia’s first fashion week dedicated to swimwear fashion. By establishing and revolutionizing the fashion industry of Sri Lanka, Ajai Vir Singh has left no area of Sri Lankan fashion unimpacted.
