Juxtapose is a collaboration between Indeevari Yapa Abeywardena and Charlene Thuring. It is a novel venture in the local fashion industry, distinguished by the simple and sophisticated styles adorned with vibrant artwork created by the students of Navodaya, a school for children with special needs.
Juxtapose, which is at the forefront of design, remains faithful to the playful quality of the artwork. Guided by fun and excitement, it thrives on a culture of freedom, open-mindedness and creativity through unique silhouettes and patterns.
“This collection is very much in line with what Juxtapose is as a label. We work with Navodaya, a school for children with special needs. All the graphic elements in the collection are artwork created by the students, with minimal enhancement on our part. The collection is floral based, because we found that the floral artwork was easier to incorporate into swimwear than the more detailed artwork, which requires more space. There’s a lot of white involved. We’re looking to appeal to a sophisticated and classy clientele. The proceeds, of course, will go back to the children.”
